About Charlie

I approach wrestling the way I approach everything โ€” study it, break it down, understand the WHY behind every move. At Buford, I learned from one of the top programs in Georgia that technique without understanding is just memorization. My camps focus on the intellectual side of wrestling โ€” reading your opponent, setting up three moves ahead, understanding angles and leverage at a level most coaches never teach. I want kids to THINK on the mat, not just react. Whether you're a first-year wrestler or a returning state qualifier, we'll find the details that separate good from great.

Charlie ran the cleanest, most organized camp my son has ever been to. The technique breakdowns were slow enough that even the younger kids understood. My 11-year-old still drills the same double-leg setup we learned there.

My daughter has been to 6 different wrestling camps. Charlie's is the one she asked to come back to. That says it all. Great energy, never condescending, and he actually remembers each kid's name by day 2.

Solid D1 pedigree and it shows. He teaches the WHY behind every technique, not just the steps. My high schooler came home with 4 pages of notes. Rare to see that kind of intellectual approach to youth coaching.

We drove 2.5 hours. Worth every mile. Charlie has a gift for connecting with wrestlers who have been through tough losses โ€” my son was in a slump and came home fired up again.

3 kids at camp. All 3 are still using what they learned. At $149 that's $50 per kid. Can't find that value anywhere. Highly recommend to anyone in the southeast.

Really high quality instruction. Would have given 5 stars but registration was a little confusing at first โ€” wasn't sure where to show up. Charlie resolved it fast and was super apologetic. Would go again.

Charlie is the real deal. He has the patience to coach a 9-year-old and the technical depth to challenge a state champion. Both of those at the same camp? That's rare.

My son qualified for state the following season after going to Charlie's takedown clinic. Coincidence? Maybe. But we're crediting Charlie. Serious upgrade to his double-leg.
